Welcome to 2008
Jan 1st, 2008 by Cheng Chen

Feed Elite LogoAnd so like many other blogs around the Internet, we are also celebrating the new year! And also like every other speech out there, we could say how we will “await a fantastic new year” or how it’s time “for a new era of humanity” or any other cliché and pompous phrase. However, we’re realistic and we’re multicultural (which, by the way, has nothing to do with anything) and thus are just going to say something more contemporary and realistic.

First all, we’d like to announce that Feed Elite is of course expanding and we will be covering many more areas in our amazing posts of expertise. There’s will be new articles regarding productivity not just in the Microsoft Windows OS environment, but also in other fields such as Mac OS X, Linux, and even Palm OS! In addition, we will try our best to publish more resources regarding benefits to our actual non-virtual lives. Isn’t that something? We trying not to be like the Tech-Blog-Next-Door

Apple BSOD IconIn the mean time, people are pissed off (I mean angry at) Apple’s BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) icon for a Windows PC, Global Warming is ever becoming a problem while Global Ice Age also is occurring, everyone’s all wrapped up in the new “Green” Movement while our industries are expanding more than ever, and oh so much more issues.Industrial Pollution

Beijing 2008 Olympics LogoAlso, did I forget to mention that 2008 brings the XXIX Olympics at Beijing, China! Because the Chinese people like the number 8 (8 in Chinese is phonetically similar to the character of “Prosper” or more like “Cash-in”), they’ve decided to start the games at 8-08-2008. Oh! Can you just imagine the amount of young lovers waiting to get married that day.

Anyways, happy new year and shall we bid farewell to 2007 and welcome 2008 with our hearts and minds open.

Free High Quality Images of the Earth

There are plenty of images out there offering beautiful pictures and images of the earth. However, non compares to the computer generated super HIGH QUALITY 3D FREE image maps at http://earth.imagico.de/ [Views of the Earth]. This website is a well organized compilation of intensely aesthetic pictures of some of the most popular and geographically important regions in the world. These panaromas were created and organized by Christoph Hormann. The quality that Chris adds to these artificial images are well beyond any other or perhaps even real pictures.

Examples:

The Tsangpo Gorge
Tsangpo GorgeQuote: “The Tsangpo Gorge is the canyon where the Yarlung Tsangpo coming from the Tibetan Plateau cuts through the ridge of the Himalaya Mountains. The altitude difference from the bottom of the valley to the peaks of the adjacent mountains (the Namcha Barwa on the left) is more than 5000m at a distance of just about 20km.”

Feed Elite Environmental Blog Action Day 2007
Oct 13th, 2007 by Cheng Chen

Blog Action Day [blogactionday.com] is highly supported by Feed Elite. The goal of this project is for thousands of bloggers worldwide to dedicate one day to the issue of our environment. Therefore, this year, Feed Elite also participates.

A way to save energy:

Bright CRT MonitorFor all those who have CRT screens, there is a major difference between the energy consumption of a black, dark colored screen than a light, white screen. Therefore, to save energy, it is best to keep your screen as dark as possible. To achieve this, there are several techniques. Blackle.com offers a Google based search engine in a full black mode. It is a very popular “Green Website.” You can also keep the color of your wallpaper and Windows theme as dark as possible. However, the most economical way is to simply turn off your monitor.

A way to save paper:

High Paper StashPersonally, I always double side print my documents. Although this may not seam important, this technique, over time actually saves quite a considerable amount of paper. The simplest way to double print your document is to first print all the odd pages and then flip your paper and print all your even pages. This is much easier than the flip-paper-every-time technique. Be smart and double side print your documents so that you can save paper and lighten the weight of your projects or binders.

This year, do something different and take the first steps to caring for our environment. This year, join us in the celebration of Blog Action Day on the 15th of October! [Blog Action Day]
