There are plenty of images out there offering beautiful pictures and images of the earth. However, non compares to the computer generated super HIGH QUALITY 3D FREE image maps at http://earth.imagico.de/ [Views of the Earth]. This website is a well organized compilation of intensely aesthetic pictures of some of the most popular and geographically important regions in the world. These panaromas were created and organized by Christoph Hormann. The quality that Chris adds to these artificial images are well beyond any other or perhaps even real pictures.

Examples:

The Tsangpo Gorge
Tsangpo GorgeQuote: “The Tsangpo Gorge is the canyon where the Yarlung Tsangpo coming from the Tibetan Plateau cuts through the ridge of the Himalaya Mountains. The altitude difference from the bottom of the valley to the peaks of the adjacent mountains (the Namcha Barwa on the left) is more than 5000m at a distance of just about 20km.”

Browse the Internet Web in 3D
Aug 23rd, 2007 by Cheng Chen

Finally, this is what you’ve been waiting for: a web browser that allows you to surf the net in 3D style! Here comes SpaceTime, the 3D Web Browser! This application is basically a program that allows users to browse through the internet by displaying multiple web pages or search in a row, lining into the “horizon” of the browser. Users could then “flip” through the web pages/searches by using different navigation tools. In addition to flipping, the arrow keys can be used to navigate through the internet sky terrain! A certain web page could be displayed fully by double clicking on the cached page image in the row. I suspect that SpaceTime uses an Internet Explorer base for its browsing powers because I received some pop ups from annoying sites in IE mode. Anyways, SpaceTime is in BETA and is all FREE! Welcome to Web 3.0!
