Google Chrome, a New Open Source Web Browser

Wow, leave it up to Google to publically announce the release of its new Web Browser program: Chrome the day before it is released. That’s right! Google will release Google Chrome, a Googlified version of a tabbed web browser based on Firefox 3 and Apple’s WebKit. Not surprisingly, Google decided to announce its release by publishing a 38 pages long comic book featuring techies discussing about the feature of the new Google Chrome.

Here’s some point-to-point features of this new Google Chrome browser software:

Open Source
Tabs located above the address URL bar, not below it
URL auto-completion feature called ‘Omnibox.’
Super “Incognito Windows” where any browsing that occurs will never be logged and will remain private
Phishing defender
Auto web-application launch feature without the need of a URL based application address.

Now, Firefox 3, Opera, and Safari are all great web browsers applications. (Actually, most tech-savvy people would no doubt prefer Firefox.) But come on… this is Google we’re talking about. Just the title “Google Browser” will make you dance in your chair and well, OMG. Like I said, leave it up to Google to sparkle us with wonder.

Many bloggers have attempted to give information on how to watch the 2008 Beijing Olympics online for free. However, most of them, sadly, either loads way too slowly or simply doesn’t work. However, there is one website that does offer many diverse broadcasts of the 2008 Olympics Opening Ceremony that does work.

Free iPhone Emulator for the Palm OS

Back then, there was a software known as iPhony. It attempted to imitate the design of an iPhone for the Palm OS. However, while the design was cool, it lacked practical usability. Recently, however, a new application known as iPhoneImitation has been released. It combines the coolness of the iPhone home screen design with a practical engine that can function as a Palm base launcher.

The iPhoneImitation can be set as the default launcher so that whenever the home screen button is pressed, the iPhoneImitation launcher automatically starts. In addition to the various launch buttons, this emulator also sports a side panel for media playback control. Combine this with the Palm OS and you get a practical Palm-iPhone emulator. An Introduction a Public Free SSH Tunneling Server

There are tons of free proxy servers. From web based services to desktop softwares, proxy servers are the norm to hide our trails. However, they are not secure. A normal proxy server configuration would only hide your identity and information. It, however, does not block 3rd party access to view the data being sent. This is where SSH servers come into play. An SSH server is basically a server that interfaces incoming and outgoing traffic through the SSH protocol. Unlike raw proxy server data, SSH-2 protocol is extremely secure. Normal Sniffers can, at most, steal some data from SSH-1 connections. However, SSH-2 has a much higher security configurations, making it an idea way to transfer data and information. To achieve this, “SSH Tunneling” is performed to connect a client to a server and to let the server forward specific ports required by the client’s internet usage.

This allows 2 main advantages:

The client’s IP Address will be masked by the SSH server’s IP Address, allowing anonymity.
The connection between the client and server is extremely secure, allowing a safe browsing experience.

There are countless free proxy servers, but near zero free SSH servers. Thus, use this wisely and DO NOT abuse it. How to Fix the Ubuntu Clipboard Problem

In Ubuntu, there is an infamous issue with the Gnome clipboard manager. (Actually, it’s not even decent enough to be called a “clipboard manager.”) Many people face extremely annoying problems of losing data when copying and pasting, especially when the copied source is closed. Ironically, this problem has not been fixed in the recently released 8.04 Hardy Heron.

The Symptoms

Pasting from a copy returns empty.
Clipboard empties when the copied source is closed.
The user yells in annoyance as the system clipboard fails.

To solve the main issue of clipboard data loss, install Glipper for Ubuntu.

Glipper is a GNOME based clipboard manager. It is basically the GNOME counterpart of the KDE Klipper. Because Glipper is written in Python, it is customizable with many different Add-Ons and extensions. However, Glipper lacks the ability to handle image copy pastes.

How to Install:

Open the Synaptic Package Manager
System > Administration > Synaptic Lackage Manager

Search for ‘Glipper’ and mark it for installation. Afterwards, apply the installation.

Add Glipper to your GNOME Panel.
Right Clip Panel > Add to Panel > Drag “Clipboard manager” to an appropriate place in your panel.

That’s a good question…

So in the recent years, it’s been noticed: more and more individuals, from Teens to Adults, want to learn how to breakdance. Besides being extremely fun and cool, breakdancing is a hardcore action that requires an intense amount of exercise, that’s it with style of course. Thus it’s no wonder that many of us want to learn how to. Look man, it’s cool, it’s hip, it’s the new trend. But where to start?

An Introduction

So you wanna breakdance? Well lemme tell you this now. Breakdancing is not easy. It does not work simply by learning a few moves and showing them off. You have to be dedicated to a continuous amount of practice. Only through practice can you combine what you learned with your own style to actually break. But needless to say. Ya’ll future B-Boys and B-Girls get ready. Cause once you start, it aint ever stoppin’!

Now before you start hurting yourself, get an idea of how breakdancing works and how it evolved. Get familiar with the history of breakdance: Breakdance [Wikipedia]. From there, start getting an idea of the major moves in breakdancing: List of breakdance moves [Wikipedia].

So now you’re all ready to learn. Well first of all, we have to make sure you don’t hurt yourself. Before you start to practice hardcore, build up body muscles, especially around your arms, abdomen, and legs. Once you think you’re fit enough, you can start. Now know this. A breakdance sequence is generally split into two main parts: Top-Rock and Down-Rock. Top Rock consists of dance movements usually in a standing position. This may include personal styles of Poppin’, Uprock martial arts, etc. Down Rock, as the title says, is the dance movements that is perfrmed on the ground. They include the fundamental footwork sequences, Freezes, etc.

The following is a list of 3 breakdance moves that you should learn when you first start. They are generally the easiest and most important moves:

The 6-Step: A fundamental footwork sequence in breakdancing that can be said to be the backbone of breakdancing.
CCs: Easy Breakdancing Downrock/footwork.
Baby Freeze: One of the easiest freezes performed while breakdancing.

Practice your balance! Breakdancing requires a lot of balance. You must practice this.

The Internet: Seriously, you can find anything nowadays on the Internet. Google “How to Breakdance” or “Breakdancing Tutorial” and it’s guaranteed that you’ll be flooded with videos, forums, and guides.
Ask! Because breakdancing has become such a popular movement. There are plenty of people who do this. It would not be surprising that some of your friends also perform and practice this form of dance. So ask them! Most people will be happy to share their starting experiences and tips with you.
Do not give up. During the first months of practice, you will feel sore, you will suck, and you will hardly be able to dance at all. However, if you are persistent, you will become a great dancer. Of course, this statement is true of most things in life… Be Dedicated!

Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron Released

After six months of development since the first Toolchain Uploaded from October 2007 and 6 Alpha releases with various Betas, Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron has finally been released today. And as is, the Tech Savvy community is obviously excited. However, don’t get too jumpy now. Besides some security and software updates, not much (besides small technical differences) can be found between Hardy and the 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. However, as it always is in the Open Source community, upgrading is important. And with Ubuntu’s built in package handler and updater, this has and still is easier than ever.

To Update from within Ubuntu:

Goto System -> Administration -> Update Manager

Install any necessary updates.

Once you see the “New distribution release ‘8.04′ is available” message, click the Upgrade button.
It might take some time for Ubuntu to organize the process needed, download the files, and go through the update installation process. Just follow the instructions and be patient.
