Improve Your Far Vision With Your Fist

Most of us probably already know this trick: increasing your far vision using your fist. It’s a pretty useful tool/technique for instances such as reading far away signs. Basically, you roll your fist and look through it. As you focus on the object you want to see, pinch the end of the fist together so that only a small point of light can shine through. Target what you want to see through this point and the object should be clearer than what you see in your normal vision. The reason: when you look through the small point, the size of the circle of confusion on the retina reduces and the depth of field increases. This is similar to the pin hole camera technique in which the image created from a pin hole camera is mostly in focus and not blurred. Needless to say, this is not a solve-all solution.
